I am completely in favor of controlling fully automatic weapons of war.

I spent a bit of time and a fistful of dollars early Sunday afternoon doing some gun control work and found that it is a perfectly righteous endeavor.  Seriously folks, these guns do need to be controlled, otherwise, they just lay around all the time, doing nothing whatsoever.   

Yesterday was another Full Auto Shoot at the Waukegan Shooting Range;  I did two mags in a WWII vintage Thompson and two mags in a WWII vintage German MP40.  WOOHOO!  Macho deluxe, baby!

I found that both the .45 ACP Thompson and the 9mm parabellum MP40 were easy to control and keep on target during sustained full auto (as opposed to firing in short bursts ... I didn't pay big dollars to go easy).  I lit both of them up and kept them on target until they ran dry.  The MP40 is very smooth … very German … very easy to control.  The Thompson is very American, very choppy but absolutely controllable in full auto … after hearing a lifetime of stories about how hard it is to control a Thompson, I was surprised at how easy it was to keep it straight and level on target; there was no “uncontrollable muzzle climb” or anything equaling any of the other cliché descriptions I had heard so many times.  

Great fun, but expensive.  I learned what I wanted to learn …
