Too overwhelmed by reality to do much blog stuff

Doin' the best I can, Oddball.  Doin' the best that I can.
I gots the BLUES, I tell ya. Year 2023 hasn't been very kind so far; no signs of a bright horizon.
Anywhere.

My youngest brother (age 64) called me during a medical crisis he was experiencing yesterday afternoon; he was very confused and wasn't making any sense.  I drove on over (~20-miles) to his house, picked him up and took him to the ER (~10-miles).  After running all kinds of tests, the ER Doc decided that they better keep youngest bro' for a while.  I got back home around 9pm.  (NOTE: The suburban ER waiting room was empty when we arrived in the afternoon but it was FULL TO THE MAX when I left.  Very spooky.)

Today I got word that, along with his many preexisting conditions, my youngest bro' now has tested positive for a severe Covid-19 infection along with a complicating infection from one the three fashionable flu-bugs that are currently running amok.  Another brother (age 68) probably infected him.  Both of the aforementioned bros' were Covid vaccinated but I dunno if either did any recent flu shots or boosters for Covid.  It's been at least a 15-years since I was vaccinated for anything; I last saw a physician around 8-years ago (excluding a quick visit last year when I managed to procure some emergency blood-pressure meds).

Anyhoo, the aforementioned 68-year-old brother is better at dealing with the needs of the 64-year-old brother than I am so he has taken over the demands of this episode.   I am back to dealing with the swamp of things yet to complete subsequent to the passing of our oldest brother (age 72) along with the needs of my diabetic wife, a recent traffic ticket she received, our income taxes,  and a pressing (and growing) list of other shit that has me on the verge of seeking permanent residence inside a bottle of bourbon.

"Faith" would be great brandname for a world class bourbon.

  1. Do I need to drive down there and buy you a beer, a bowl of chili and a basket of fries?

  2. I know you are just trying to cheer the rest of us up. At least most of my worries are potential at this point. I have been doing a decent job of remembering your wife the the medication issues during my prayer time. I will try to expand my vision, no promises with my memory the way it is but my heart will be in the right place.

You may be in a better place than your brothers because you have not been vaccinated. It is hard to find anything you can believe but the side effects that I am reading about seem worse than the cure.

I always liked that joke about, "Cheer up. Things could get worse. So I did, and sure enough, they got worse", so I won't give any advice I can't keep myself.

    Blessings

  3. I'm at a loss on what to say other than Prayers Up.

  4. If it has been 15 years since you have had any vaccinations I would recommend you get a booster...the TDaP booster. Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis. That, like Polio and Smallpox, is an important vax. One that actually protects you.
