1968 riots. This is the short version. I got LOST in Chicago after dropping off a pal at his north-side girlfriend's house. 6:00pm curfew rolled in and the arson smoke went up on cue all over the city. News Radio was reporting that pale folks were being dragged from their cars and beaten. The more I drove the deeper I went into the shit show. Finally I found an expressway but could not find an onramp so I drove over grass medians and around barriers and found an exit ramp which I charged down the wrong way; spun a U-turn in traffic and headed toward ANYWHERE that wasn't Chicago. /JZ
