The depiction on the headstone is interesting. According to my maternal Grandmother, my Great Great Grandmother was an Indian who feared “white people.” I’ve heard a DNA analysis can provide some clues to my family history; I just need to get around to arranging for it.

I've been doing our genealogy since I was about 16. I managed to get some of my family back to 1580 in Germany, and others are stuck in the early 1900s. It is very maddening.

ReplyDeleteCrusty,I'm not sure I know all of the angles of the DNA genealogy. Initially the report gives some info / explanation of the ancestral mix. Optional registry into some of the family groups, e.g. Blair, Peak, Young, etc., can help if there is high participation. Problems do arise if there are unknown breaks in the lineage due to (ahem) indiscretions.
