Argh! I knew global warming would fail me when I needed it most; the temperature is supposed to drop to 32F before morning, same as it did last night. The flowers are once again in peril. Note to self: Never again plant flowers before May 1.
The neighbors will once again wake up to the sight of my front yard flower beds shrouded with sheets of translucent plastic. I hope it is enough to hold in the heat and keep out the cold…

Our 'maters and peppers are in pots, so in the house they go.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what happens if that volcano keeps spewing for a while longer.
Peppers! My Dad loved to grow peppers in pots on his patio. I do believe I'm going to steal your idea and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the U.N.climatologists will soon send a cease and desist order to that volcano ;)
Greetings from Texas,
ReplyDeleteFrost has no respect! Helene and I have old sheets we 'tent' over the veggies in the raised gardens when frost blunders in. So far it's worked. What you were saying about plastic also works. Just make sure neigher the sheet or the plastic touch the plants or it will transmitt the forst to them.
For what it's worth. Good luck.
Thanks Art. So far, so good. 5:00 this morning everything was covered with frost (according to my early rising neighbor). I removed the plastic from the flowers at 9:00 and everything looks ok. I be keeping my fingers crossed.
