No, I am not kidding. Our “War on Drugs” is a failure. Legalizing and TAXING pot would take a big cost load off our legal system. No, I am not a closet pot smoker; I never bothered to try the stuff and never will. The only dog I have in the fight is MY TAX DOLLAR! In my long years, I have known many pot smokers and NOT ONE of them ruined their life by smoking it, with the exception of felony convictions when caught.

I agree with you on this, as did William F. Buckley, Jr. Buckley was very bright, and he examined the issue of the war on drugs and determined that it was a complete failure. What we need to do is legalize pot, tax the hell out of it, and control it just like we do liquor. How many people do you know who died of an overdose of marijuana? Whereas thousands die every year from alcohol poisoning and DWI wrecks. I have a good friend who is a recovering alcoholic, and when I expressed this opinion to him, he acted as if he were scared to death of me. I was seriously undermining his belief structure.
ReplyDeleteHey there Ed. It is an honor to have you stop in.
ReplyDeleteBill Cosby had a funny but insightful bit about the difference between pot smokers and drunks...
