We had a small holiday-get-together with some family members at the old homestead in Lake Zurich. Around mid-afternoon we heard a cacophony of sirens that lasted for over a half-hour and surmised that there had been a sizable crash down on Highway 12.
After we returned home I clicked on over to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner website to see if they had a report on what had happened. They had full coverage but I was surprised that they had posted everything so promptly on a holiday; I expected that we would have to wait until tomorrow to find out what had happened.
Since there is no local radio news or any local daily newspapers the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is our only source. News is what they do and it is much appreciated.
