I consider seal coating to be cosmetic rather than essential-maintenance. It provides the illusion of being fresh / new. Some folks have their drives done every year and a few folks in this 'hood have never had it done. IIRC, this is the fourth time that this drive has been done during its 24-year lifetime. I only did it once myself; contractors are (usually) much cheaper, cleaner, and faster.
I can't say that this is one more thing off my project list because it wasn't on my project list. The contractor was doing the drives of two neighbors today and he came over and asked me if I wanted mine done while he was in the neighborhood. The price was right.
