In the Eastern Tennessee section of Heaven, my parents are smiling down on me as they tenderly whisper, “we told you never to plant annuals before Mother’s Day.”
Mom and Dad, never does a day go by without me thinking of you. I love flowers because they bring you back. You both deserved better lives than you lived, especially considering the dues that you paid. I should have cherished you before you became nothing more than cherished memories.
As for the flowers, the temperature outside might drop to 30F tonight. Yeah, I know, “weather ain’t climate” and high IQ people guarantee that we are all doomed to cook in our anthropogenic heat wave, but I sincerely doubt that will be happening before morning. The temperature is supposed to drop when the cloud cover breaks around midnight; the weather service predicts temperatures may stay below freezing until after 8 A.M. I covered all of the annuals but they may not make it through several hours of hard freeze; I have thwarted four frosts so far this spring but my luck may be running thin.

I blame Global Warming. That and all the Deniers that are out on your lawn.
ReplyDeleteYou do what you can do. Weather ain't to be trusted. Last week we had weather in the 80's and 90's. Today it was cool enough we had folks wishing they had brought coats. It was a great day to spend outside.
ReplyDeleteY2K blew over. Gore will too.
