Interesting article.

I went through the "social-obligation" of pricing the purchase and installation of solar panels adequately sized for our domicile.  

I decided that the $$$ amount required for such a project would better serve what is left of my projected biological lifetime if I used it to buy dividend-yielding stocks in some select utility companies.  

The projected stock $$$ yields are close to being the same as what the solar panels were projected to save me (here in northern Illinois) on utility bills and the stock purchases are a hell of a lot less disruptive than a construction project (your mileage may vary).
