Tesla and the other players have been onboarding all kinds of sensors and processors into their semi-autonomous vehicles. Sooner or later there will be an industry-wide evolution, standardization, and integration of the technology.
I love traveling the USA via automobile but have long imagined it would be far more enjoyable via a robot chauffeur while I lounged in the backseat of my Applemobile, sipping chardonnay.
Remember back when cell-phones were brand new and the service was very limited because the infrastructure was unavailable? IMHO, that's kinda where we are at with this self-driving car stuff. It will get done.
We live in exciting times.
