We complied with every intent and letter of Illinois gun-law
for our long lives and the politicians forever want more from the honest
citizens to compensate for the state’s impotence against criminals.
Below is a clip I took from an email from a friend.
“Armed, law-abiding citizens in 49 states are first
responders. Unarmed, law-abiding Illinois citizens are first victims.”
“All gun store (FFL) sales entail NICS background checks.
Over 80% of gun show sales are by FFLs and they run background checks before transferring
a firearm. You cannot "buy a gun over the Internet" without going
through an FFL and a background check.”
“Illinois FOID law effectively imposes universal background
checks for all legal firearm sales. The rules on the back of the card are clear.
A private seller can only transfer a gun to another person with a FOID card
(i.e. recipient is certified by Illinois State Police to be a legal gun
buyer/owner). And you have to keep a record of the sale for ten years. There is
no "gun show loophole" in Illinois because a FOID card is the
background check. That said, how effective are "universal background
checks" in reducing Chicago's gun violence (not to mention the
"assault weapons ban" in Cook County)?”
“Dave”
I know you're probably tired of hearing me say this, but any law abiding citizen so afflicted in their state should, in the words of Texas Governor Rick Perry, relocate to Texas.
ReplyDeleteWe welcome you, and you'll have none of this nonsense. We even have shall issue CHL's, and you don't need a CHL to keep a loaded handgun in your glovebox or for that matter, an unconcealed and loaded rifle or shotgun may be carried almost anywhere.
Texas has none of this horrid gun registration either.
El Fisho
Heck, El Fisho, I NEVER get tired of hearing that! People are relocating out of this Banana Republic by the busload and I will follow as soon as I can.
ReplyDeleteI certainly do appreciate the invite!
Best,
Zack
