On January 18, 2017 at approximately 6:45pm officers from the Waukegan Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of Green Bay Road and York House Road for a reported car accident. Upon location officers located an abandoned car.
A few minutes later officers were dispatched to the area of Northern Avenue and Sunset Road for a victim that stated he was car jacked, at gun point, when he pulled over for the above incident. The victim wanted to check for injuries and assist if possible.
The victim stated that as he slowed to assist, three suspects entered his car. One of the suspects had a gun. The suspects with the gun is described as a male black, black and gray beard, heavy set, wearing jeans and a red jacket. There is no description of the other suspects.
The suspects made the victim drive to the area of Northern Avenue and Sunset Road where they got out of the car and fled on foot. The victim was not hurt in the incident.
The Waukegan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call the Waukegan Police Department’s “Tip-Line” at 847-360-9001.
