A few months ago I noticed that the .38 Super slot on the working ammo shelf was getting mighty lean.
That meant I needed to rotate some older stock from the ammo cans to the working shelf and find fresh ammo to replace it; not an easy task back in mid August during this raging ammo buying panic.
Fortuitously for me, the .38-Super is not a top-choice for hand gunners and this ammo was still available in quantities. I only ordered what I needed and left the rest for others; I'll admit that I was tempted to just clear the online vendor's inventory but my conscience wouldn't allow it. When it arrived at my local gun store and I stopped in to present my FOID card and accept the delivery they seemed surprised that any ammo was still available.
Between what is on the working shelf, inside the range / travel kit, and inside the ammo cans I prefer to keep no fewer than 3,000 rounds of this load. 300-rounds are Winchester Silvertip self defense loads and the balance of the inventory is ball ammo primarily for the shooting range (although cops did use .38 Super ball ammo as an all-around load back in the day).
