Review of Galco Classic Lite Shoulder Holster Rig (Ruger P90, P85)

Sans the tie-downs for the holster-side and the ammo-side, this Classic Lite shoulder rig for my Ruger P90 is typically what you would get from Galco for any other semi-auto pistol that they have listed.  That is not meant to imply that one holster size fits all; if your pistol is not listed then Galco does not have a holster cut to fit that particular design; for example, Galco doesn't make a Classic Lite shoulder rig for my Beretta 84FS Cheetah.

Let me state that this isn't my first (or only) Galco Classic Lite shoulder rig; I've long owned some for other types of handguns.  HOWEVER, this is the only one that I haven't substantially modified with the available high-end Galco brand holsters used for their Miami Classic line (which are not available for this relic Ruger P90 et al) and / or with components from other makers.  For this particular rig I did purchase the component tie-downs; the ammo side tie-down (to my tastes) is essential for carrying the P90 but the gun-side tie-down I rarely find to be needed.

Please also note that the Classic Lite holster for any semi-auto pistol is very minimalistic but (IMHO) they are good enough.  The holster is fashioned from a very soft and flexible hide; there is no way to bone this cut of hide to fit the pistol contours; it is as basic as a functional holster can be.  The Classic Lite holster requires a significant break-in period in order to stretch-fit to the semi-auto handgun that it is cut for.  Be patient, it takes some time and quite a bit of effort. The thumb-release safety-strap is the main retention. Once the leather stretches out to fit the pistol, further native retention is via a tensioning screw.
