Warrants Team Arrest Two Fugitives
On January 20, 2017 members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and the U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) developed information on the whereabouts of Dewayne L. Smith-Williams, 22, of Zion. Smith-Williams had an active Lake County Warrant ($300,000.00 bond) for armed robbery (class X felony), aggravated discharge of a firearm (class 1 felony), and aggravated battery (class 1 felony), stemming from an incident which occurred in Zion on January 14, 2017.
Smith-Williams was located by members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team and USMS-GLRFTF, hiding in a Zion residence in the 2300 block of Joppa Avenue, Zion. Additionally, Kimberly S. Brown, 31 of Zion, was also located at the residence. Brown had an active failure to appear arrest warrant for traffic offenses ($24,000.00 bond).
Smith-Williams and Brown were both taken into custody without incident.
Smith-Williams remains held at the Lake County Jail on $300,000.00 bail. His next court date is February 14, 2017 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-120.
Brown was released after receiving a Recognizance Bond at her bond hearing. Her next court date is January 24, 2017 at 1:30PM in courtroom C-403.
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
